The Real Deal

I think many folks have an idealistic view that those of us farmers/homesteaders/homemakers etc have it easy.

Somehow they feel we live the good life and everything is simple, easy, inexpensive and gloriously happy.

Some days all of those ideals are true.

Other days…not so much.

Today is one of those days of not so much for me. It’s time to buy groceries for the week, and the budget is a bit extra tight this week. Need to buy food for the critters…but again, that danged budget.

All is fine. We will all eat this week. It’s just frustrating sometimes.

I’m also bummed to hear of a friend’s Mama Doxie losing all 4 pups in her new litter born this week. Heartbreaking.

That’s part of the sad reality of farm life too. Our furry/feathery friends don’t always make it, despite our best efforts.

Not to be a So-Sad-Sally, but I want you to understand that what we put up here is real.

The Real Deal, man.

The good, the bad and all the in-between.

So go hug your critters.

Hug your Mamas (it is Mother’s Day weekend, ya know).

And love the life we live.
