The pans clank. The mixer whirs.
Soon the unmistakable aroma of chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven draws them from all corners of the house.
The next few precious minutes are filled with laughter, chatter and requests for “just one more” as they are all gathered around the worn, but well loved antique table that had once belonged to Grandma. The very table that had held so many plates of cookies through the years.
The kitchen.
Where meals are prepared. Bodies nourished. Where families gather. Birthdays celebrated. Friends catch-up over coffee. Many footsteps into, out of, passing through. Filled with silly made up songs.
Laughter. Tears.
The very heart of the home.
During these “unprecedented times” of social isolation and distancing many have found themselves back in this previously little used room of their house. Some are reconnecting with the joy of preparing meals and sitting down as a family again. Others are feeling a little lost as all the activities performed here are new and foreign.
Wherever you find yourself in relation to your kitchen, know that you can rekindle a love, spark a new passion and learn new skills there.
Over the next coming days, weeks and months I hope you will join me as I share with you stories, recipes, short-cuts and skills that I know will help you grow, heal and begin to create your own precious memories in the heart of your home.
